Practical info

• The meeting is free for members of Frie Skolers Lærerforening.
• There is a possibility to stay for dinner and have a room if you are attending the international seminar on Friday March 17. 
• Accommodation and meals are included.
• We cover transport expenses (car or train).

Getting time off work
We hope that the management at your school will see the seminar as a good opportunity for you and your international colleagues to get a professional brush-up and therefore give you the Friday off to attend the seminar.

However Frie Skolers Lærerforening do not cover expenses for supply teachers. You may have to move your lessons to another time if the management asks you to do so.

·        10.00: Welcome. Practical information and presentation of the program and the participants

·        10.15 Workshop with Line Thingholm - VIA University College: Developing the Multilingual Learner. Language learning is a part of every subject. Whether we teach maths or science, history or world literature we need to teach both content and the language that goes with it - the specific words and the exact way to use the language in this subject. Together we will explore the connection between content teaching and language learning and try to answer these questions:

o   Why do we need to focus on the language of the subject?

o   How does it look, when content and language learning are both in focus?

o   How do our students learn a new content with a new vocabulary?

o    do we support the students’ understanding of new words?

o   How can the students practice the new language and how can we check their understanding?

o   Why do we have to include the students’ full linguistic repertoire in our teaching?

o   How do we do this?

o   How can we use their many languages as a resource in the language learning?

Optimize your voice so that you appear more energetic, enthusiastic and, not least, more professional. More well-being creates better selfesteem.

·        11.00 What’s up in FSL? w/ The Chairman of Frie Skolers Lærerforening The Chairman is going to give you the latest updates on what’s happening in the union. Ask all the questions you might have to how things are done in FSL, your salary, work hours etc.
